I know when you look at the maps, it may be hard to "see" the work that was done... I encourage everyone to really take a look at the notes that were taken during these 4 days of work to get a clear understanding of what went on. We had a lot of great discusion and feel that it was necessary to build some of the foundation, much like we did in math cabinet this year. Next steps would include adding problem solving into maps as well as other process strands. We also need to discuss and work on assessments (benchmark, unit, problem solving)
\nI feel accomplished and don't want to stop the momentum of this mapping.
\nI specifically worked on the 2nd grade map. I cross-referenced everything we had with the state standards and reorganized a bit. I got rid of 3 units as well. I feel that the 2nd grade math map could be used as a consensus map for the 2nd grade as a whole. That would give 2nd grade teachers the opportunity to adjust the map with diary maps, right? Or at lease makes notes as to what they feel should be adjusted on the concensus map for the district. :-)
